We want to welcome you to the Clubhouse of the TPC Sawgrass, home of THE PLAYERS.
When you enter the beautiful new clubhouse here at the TPC Sawgrass, you will be witness to the fulfillment of a vision and a dream. The majestically designed 77,000 sq. ft. building that continues the exquisite Mediterranean architecture of the area, was carved out of 418 acres of swampland and has become the world famous TPC Sawgrass.
Inside this exciting building you will find an interior designed to give each visitor a visual history of the origin and progression of the PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP---NOW THE PLAYERS--- from the inaugural event in 1974 when Jack Nicklaus won at the Atlanta Country Club, to the dramatic win in 2008 by Sergio Garcia. This visual history includes larger than life paintings, a wonderful assortment of memorabilia, trophies, and items of special interest to every visitor. And, as your personal guide, you will meet our talented VOLUNTEER STORYTELLERS.
STORYTELLERS are a group of trained volunteers who have only one goal; to make your visit the most memorable possible. They will tell you about the Tournament, the Clubhouse, the two great courses---THE PLAYER STADIUM and the DYE'S VALLEY---and many other stories about golf and the very interesting people who play, and have played, the game over the years.
Our STORYTELLERS want to "enhance the experience of every guest who enters the clubhouse." In addition, weather permitting, we will take you on an exciting tour, in our 6 seater golf carts, of the last three holes of THE PLAYERS Stadium course. Known as "the three greatest finishing holes in Championship golf" they are holes 16, 17, and 18. The 17th. "island green" hole is easily the most famous and most photographed hole in the golf world today.
All 60 of our STORYTELLERS are volunteers with diverse backgrounds who have settled in the Jacksonville area from all parts of the country. Many are former business men and women, teachers, retired Doctors, College Professors, and Ministers. Some are still active in the work world. They bring to life, through their stories, not only the history of the TPC Sawgrass, but also many facts and things about the game you might not know. They are here seven days a week. Their hours are:
Monday through Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 9: 00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tours may be scheduled by calling (904) 273-3202, or you may simply come to the Clubhouse during the hours listed above. We will be happy to see you and show you around.
